Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR)
The Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR), offered through Save Energy Minnesota, helps qualified Minnesotans upgrade to efficient electric appliances and equipment. These rebates are applied instantly at the time of installation, which lowers your upfront costs.
HEAR can help pay for items like heat pumps, electric stoves, wiring, and electrical panel upgrades. Some improvements are also available for new construction.
Who Is Eligible
Your eligibility for HEAR rebates depends on your total household income and whether it is at or below 80% AMI or between 80% and 150% AMI for your county.
You can check your income using the Minnesota Commerce Department’s Area Median Income Look-Up Table.
Both existing single-family homes and multifamily buildings are eligible. Some technologies are also allowed in new construction.

How the Program Works
Here is the general process for receiving HEAR rebates:
- Check your income eligibility using the AMI lookup tool.
- Confirm that your building type qualifies (single-family or multifamily).
- Determine which electrical panel upgrades you need based on program rules.
- Work with an approved contractor once the state publishes the official list before program launch.
- Complete the installation and submit documentation for your grant.
