About Save Energy Minnesota
Save Energy Minnesota is a statewide initiative that helps Minnesotans save energy, lower utility bills, and make their homes healthier and more comfortable. We offer several rebate and grant programs that reduce the cost of home energy upgrades and efficient electric appliances.
Our goal is to make energy‑saving improvements more affordable for everyone, especially households that benefit the most from lower energy costs and safer, more efficient homes.
What We Do
Save Energy Minnesota offers several programs that provide financial assistance for home energy upgrades. Each program focuses on a different part of home efficiency or electrification.

Home Efficiency Rebates (HOMES)
Helps Minnesotans reduce energy use with whole-home improvements like insulation, air sealing, duct sealing, and ENERGY STAR windows and doors. Rebates are based on modeled energy savings and household income.

Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR)
Provides instant rebates for income-qualified households to help cover the cost of electric appliances and related upgrades, such as heat pumps, electric stoves, wiring, and electrical panels (when needed for appliance installation).

Residential Heat Pump Rebates
Supports homeowners installing cold-climate, ENERGY STAR air-source heat pumps for heating and cooling. To qualify, homeowners must complete an energy audit and any required insulation or air sealing.

Residential Electrical Panel Upgrade Grants
Provides grants to help homeowners and multifamily building owners upgrade their electrical panels so their homes can safely support electric appliances and future electrification. Grants are based on income eligibility and building type.
